If you are a prospecting student, it is suggested that you apply before July 21 2022 so you can stand a good chance of being done by the committee on September 15, 2022. Your academic performance is what will determine your selection. Per statistics from the SANC, the Bachelor of Nursing at the UFS can only state in up to 75 students.

These are the various minimum qualifications you need to apply for a Bachelor of Nursing at UFS

You need to have the following:

1. Admission Point (AP) 30
2. Language of instruction 50%
3. ** Mathematics 40% or Mathematical Literacy 70%
4. ** Life Sciences 60% or Physical Sciences 50%

** Either Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy is required, as well as either Life Sciences or Physical Sciences.

• Please be certain that your application comes with all the needed documents. These includes a medical certificate.
• Failure to provide ALL needed documents will mean you can’t be selected.

Legacy Nursing Qualifications: According to the South African Nursing Council (SANC) Circular 7/2016 Legacy Nursing Qualifications are phasing out. The last intake for these programs was 31 December 2019 (Nursing Programs 2019).)

How To Apply

  • Those who are currently in Grade 12 MUST bring copies of final Grade 11. This MUST be STAMPED by the school.
  • Everyone applying MUST fill the online application.
  • A student number which will be regarded as your Reference number will be sent to you the moment you application goes through the process.
  • Applicants writing the National Senior Certificate (NSC) through IEB or SACAI examining bodies can apply online by selecting “National Senior Certificate” under the Results Detail page of the online application process.
  • Applicants who completed the GED and would like to study towards an undergraduate curricular qualification are advised to register and complete a grade 12 NSC/IEB/SACAI or international equivalent.
  • Applicants who did not complete SC/NSC/IEB must have USAF accreditation from the examination board for South African Universities.
