Ovulation test

Ovulation test. Ovulation tests are done by women. This test aids women to know the time within their menstrual cycle when the chance of getting pregnant is very high.

The test is done to notice when a hormone known as leteinizing (LH) is very high in the urine. Whenever there is an increase in this hormone, it is an indirect communication to the ovary to now release an egg. The ovulation test is used to also know when an egg is likely to be released. The woman doing the test is then able to know when conception can happen. The tools for this test are sold at pharmacies.

Since the sticks are about 7, you can’t test for LH throughout your cycle. When you start testing therefore depends on the length of your cycle, for example, if you have a 28 day cycle, you will need to start testing around the 11th day. You can calculate the day by noting down day number 11 after the day you start your period.

If your cycle is more than 28 days, please consult your midwife or expert to help you calculate when it is best to start testing, ideally, you should begin around the 3rd to the 5th day you expect to start ovulating.

To do the test, simply put urine into a clean container that is not contaminated, and then dip in the stick or you can equally urinate unto the stick if it does not spill over you. Once the stick comes into contact with urine, it will change color, or it will show a display of positive. This will let you know if LH is high and has been detected through your test.
