The kind of antioxidants in onions are so strong that they will fight off inflammations if taken regularly. These antioxidants have the ability to also help you lower the amount or quantity of triglycerides in your blood. Triglycerides are a type of bad fat that can cause a lot of havoc including cardiac conditions.

Some research work also shows that onion has quercetin. This is also a type of antioxidnat that will help you to lower and stabilize your blood pressure. This goes a long way to protect your heart and put it in good health.

ONIONS HELP YOU FIGHT CANCER

Research shows that people who regularly take in vegetables from the allium family develop the ability to fight off cancers. This is especially, cancers in the stomach and cancers in the colon.

A look at 26 of such works concluded that who ate the most quantities of this group of vegetables such as onions and garlic had as little as 22% chance of having cancers of the stomach as compared to their counterparts who ate very little of it.

Similarly, a look at 16 of such research works which comprised over 13,000 people also showed that those who had eaten the most amount of onion had 15% less chance of having cancer of the colon when compared to their counterparts that ate the least amount.

The reason why onion and the other vegetables in this group are able to fight cancers have been traced to the powerful antioxidants within them. These are flavonoids that have sulfur in their them.
