Ann Latsky Nursing College Application 2022/2023. To pass out as a nurse who is qualified to take care of patients, you need to go through a mandatory number of years of vigorous training. This makes you eligible to take care of the sick, to offer public health education to the public, and be a preventive health advocate as well. After your training, you are expected to provide services that will meet the need of people not just in the physical sense but mentally and psychologically as well. You are expected to know what to do to ensure that your patients’ social well being is also as organized as possible.
Established in 1951, the Ann Latskey nursing college is one of the most prestigious nursing college you can study to become a professional nurse. Formally called the Witwatersrand College of Nursing, the college has a rich history. The college got its name in 1980 being named after its first principal, Dr. Ann Latsky. Dr Ann was the Principal of the prestigious college from 1951 – 1957. It is strategically located in the Hurst Hill and Auckland Park area, adjacent the Helen Joseph Hospital and the University of Johannesburg.
LEADERSHIP OF THE COLLEGE
The directorate of the Gauteng Department of Health encapsulates the college.
The University of Johannesburg is the place where all the practical training is held, this is done in collaboration with the ETQA body and the South African Nursing Council.
Nursing Education in South Africais governed by the Nursing Act 33 of 2005.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION
The college has 3 phases of admission; let us go through them one by one
Phase 1:
For Senior Certificate holders:
An English pass rate of at least D HG or C SG
A Biology pass rate of at least D HG or C SG
A minimum of 15 points is necessary to obtain admission to Phase 2.

For National Senior Certificate holders:
An English pass rate of at least 50% (level 4), A Life Sciences pass rate of at least 50% (level 4)
A minimum of 25 points is necessary to obtain admission to Phase 2.
Note: Life Orientation is half the original mark. E.g. 6 = 3
If in Grade 12 use your Final Grade 11 Results.
Acceptance into the process is provisional
The final acceptance depends on the final grade 12 results.
Phase 2:
Once you make it through the phase 1 you will be invited to an assessment.
Phase 3:
At phase 3, once you make it through phase 2, you will have a mandatory assessment.
Then you will go through an interview
Next, you will have a medical examination and surveillance.
Lastly, all your documents will be verified
How To Apply
All those applying who are now in Grade 12 are expected to bring copies of their Grade 11 final results, each copy should bare the stamp of the school.
And then you are expected to fill in the application online.
The moment you are done with your application online, it will be assessed and then you shall get a Student Number also called the Reference Number.
Those applying who are sitting for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) through IEB or SACAI examining bodies can also go through the application process. If you one of such, you are to select “National Senior Certificate” under the Results Detail page of the online application process.
If you have finished the GED and also want to take an undergraduate programme, it is suggested that you register and get a grade 12 NSC/IEB/SACAI or its international equivalent. If you not finish the SC/NSC/IEB, you should be in possession of the USAF accreditation from the examination board for South African Universities.
